Hiking in the Royal National Park

At the beginning of September 2002, spring finally arrives: The nights become warmer and allow for camping. Together with five friends, we shoulder our backpacks for a two-day hike through the Royal National Park, the oldest national park in Australia, situated south of Sydney at the coast. The coast track is 26 km long and goes along dramatic cliffs, across beaches (with 15 kg on one's back, you hate sandy beaches...), along water creeks and constantly changing vegetation. Our tent is set up directly at the beach, during a new moon's night where we get to learn the stars of the southern hemisphere. See also the Monthly Report September 2002.
