Wisemans Ferry

On February 19./20. 2004, we explore the history — or what they call history in Australia. Our week-end is stamped by an old road, "The Great North Road" which was built by convicts in the middle of the 19th century to connect Sydney to the fertile Hunter Valley in the north. But: By the time the construction was just being finished, the trade was carried out on steam ships with the consequence that The Great North Road was never used. Furthermore, we saw an old cemetary with the graves of some of the "First Fleet"ers and relics of human settlement not long ago (corrugated iron sheets and tractors were already invented)...
